Black Sea Day in Georgia
On 31 October, Georgia celebrated Black Sea Day, with the EU-funded EU4EMBLAS project organising a number of events to mark the date.
Among the events was an international conference, ‘Learn more about your sea’, in Batumi. It aimed to introduce pupils and students to the most important topics of the Black Sea, including possible threats, development of aquaculture and the current state of the Black Sea near Ukrainian and Georgian shores. The conference brought together experts from Turkey, Bulgaria, Ukraine, and Georgia.
After the conference, participants took part in a joint clean-up event of the beach near the mouth of the Chorokhi. In total, they collected more than ten 100-litre bags of river and marine waste.
