EU-funded projects in Moldova join forces to create social impact

More than 60 social entrepreneurs and representatives of civil society took part in a social networking event – Together we create impact! – jointly organised on 28 June by two projects, “EU4Youth – Unlocking the potential of young social entrepreneurs in Moldova and Ukraine” (EUnlocking) and “Civil society contributes to inclusive and sustainable economic development in the Republic of Moldova”, both funded by the European Union.

The event aimed to create social bridges between the beneficiaries of the two projects and to connect them with potential investors and donors.

“This event responds to the needs of the EUnlocking project’s beneficiaries for capacity building, building national and regional partnerships, and connecting with platforms through which they can tell their stories, challenges, successes and even failures. We also invited potential investors and business donors, who could be their partners in the development of their social enterprises,” said Elena Nofit from the EUnlocking project in Moldova.

Civil society representatives said they were open to new collaboration opportunities: “Partnerships are one of the most important elements we need to explore because they help us a lot to better understand the challenges and problems we are tackling through our projects,” said Corina Erhan, director of the Rural Development Agency – Centre NGO.

“Collaboration with civil society is crucial because this is the only way we can achieve the desired result. We are open to new cooperation actions so that the rights of people with disabilities in Moldova are respected,” said Victoria Botan from the Motivation NGO.

The EUnlocking project helps to foster the social entrepreneurial potential of young people in Moldova and Ukraine by establishing a favourable ecosystem for social enterprises, as well as by inspiring and supporting more young social entrepreneurs to develop and sustain their innovative solutions to the promotion of social inclusion and environmental sustainability across both countries. The project is funded by the European Union under its EU4Youth Programme.
