European Union conducts EuroSchool 2024 in Azerbaijan with focus on climate change ahead of COP29
EuroSchool 2024, held from 6 to 8 August in the village of Basgal in the Ismayilli region of Azerbaijan, brought together 18 enthusiastic participants for a series of sessions with a strong focus on climate change and the upcoming COP29 conference to be held in November in Baku.
The EuroSchool, aimed at strengthening EU-Azerbaijan relations, offered a blend of educational and interactive experiences. Participants explored the EU, its history, fundamental principles and values, the Eastern Partnership initiative, and EU-Azerbaijan relations, especially in energy and environmental policies.
In addition, representatives of the EU NEIGHBOURS East programme introduced participants to the Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) network that connects youth from the EU Member States and the Eastern Partnership countries, including Azerbaijan. The Young European Ambassadors facilitated sessions on youth engagement, EU-funded opportunities, and climate change, which encouraged participants to become members of the YEA network.
By the end of the Euroschool, the participants had a better understanding of EU processes and EU activities in Azerbaijan, which was confirmed by the certificate of completion.
This is the seventh edition of the EuroSchool, organised in collaboration with the EU Delegation in Azerbaijan, the EU NEIGHBOURS east project and the Young European Ambassadors initiative.
