EU strategically supports regional development in Ukraine
Yesterday, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the State Strategy for Regional Development 2024-2027, marking a significant milestone on Ukraine’s path towards democratisation and European integration.
This strategy, developed with the support of the EU, will serve as a key tool for mitigating the impacts of the war, promoting recovery, and advancing Ukraine’s enlargement goals.
Next on the agenda is the preparation of the Strategy’s Action Plan, which will outline concrete steps for its implementation.
The EU will continue to support this process by maintaining an active dialogue with the Ministry of Reconstruction and other partners, and by providing comprehensive advice and expert assistance.
The EU supported the preparation of the Strategy through the European Commission, the EU Delegation and a long-running EU-funded programme, U-LEAD with Europe, on reconstruction and recovery topics as well as ensuring comprehensive advisory and expert support.
Rémi Duflot from the EU Delegation to Ukraine, noted that the State Strategy for Regional Development is one of the key documents to ensure the sustainable development of Ukrainian regions and communities. “The EU also looks forward to the further implementation of the European Commission’s Enlargement report recommendations on regional policy, in close coordination with the recovery and reconstruction, multi-level governance and territorial-oriented regional policy, taking into account the differing impact of the war on the regions of Ukraine.”
