European Union and UNDP support restoration of four monuments in Moldova
Four sites on both banks of the Nistru River will be restored in Moldova with the support of the Confidence Building Measures programme, funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Restoration and conservation works will be carried out at the cave Monastery in the village of Țîpova, Rezina; the bell tower in the village of Vadul lui Rașcov, Șoldănești; the ruins of the Great Synagogue in Rașcov; and the facade of the interwar Savings and Treasury Bank building in Tighina (Bender).
The Rașcov Synagogue will be in its second stage of conservation and restoration. This time, the works will focus on the restoration of the Minore in the Great Hall and the Aron Codices in the Small Hall.
The estimated budget for each monument will not exceed €72,000.
Previously, with the support of the EU and UNDP, 12 cultural-historical sites on both banks of the Nistru were restored, including two flagship projects: the Circus building in Chișinău and the Tighina (Bender) Fortress.
The Confidence Building Measures programme contributes to building trust between people on both banks of the Nistru River involving them in joint development projects.
