Germany pledges €77.6 million to Ukraine Energy Support Fund

[post_audio_speech]

The Ukraine Energy Support Fund (UESF) has received a new grant of €77.6 million from KfW on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

The donation, coinciding with Ukraine marking 1,000 days of Russian invasion, will enable the Fund to invest in more key spare parts and other needed equipment for companies from the energy sector affected by the war, including renewable energy generation capacity. Thirty per cent of the additional funds are dedicated to advancing clean energy solutions.

The UESF was established in 2022 by the Energy Community Secretariat (ECS), co-chaired by the European Commission. It aims to mitigate the impact of Russian attacks on Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure, enabling governments, international financial institutions, and corporate donors to provide financial support for urgent restoration efforts. With the latest German donation, total pledges to the Fund have reached €894 million.
