Ukraine Energy Support Fund provides equipment to Ukrenergo to enhance power line restoration efforts
The EU’s Ukraine Energy Support Fund (UESF), managed by the Energy Community Secretariat, has handed over two new telescopic semi-trailers for fast delivery of oversized loads to the Ukrainian transmission system operator Ukrenergo.
These specialised vehicles, purchased with contributions from KfW on behalf of the German Ministry of Economy, in collaboration with Pulsar Expo from Ukraine, are designed to transport up to three high-voltage power line towers at a time, reaching 25 metres in height and weighing up to 24 tonnes.
The semi-trailers feature adjustable platforms, allowing flexibility for smaller cargo, making them invaluable for restoring power lines swiftly after attacks.
The Fund was created to address the devastating impact of Russian attacks on Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure, delivering swift financial support for urgent restoration efforts in the face of widespread blackouts and power outages affecting millions. By the end of December, the UESF had surpassed €1 billion in pledges from 30 donors, including six companies and non-state organisations.
