European Endowment for Democracy: 12-month traineeship in communications team

The position is designed for someone with one or two years of communications experience who wants to grow in a high-trust, high-impact environment.

The deadline for applications is 15 June 2025.

The EED is a grant-giving organisation which provides flexible support to democracy activists and civil society organisations, including in the Eastern Partnership region.

Applicants should have near-native English writing and editing skills. Fluency in another relevant language (such as Ukrainian, Russian, Arabic, French, Serbian, etc.) will be an advantage, as will interest or knowledge in democracy support, independent media, civic activism or the EU Neighbourhood regions.

You should have a sharp, curious and proactive approach, know how to craft a great post, write crisp copy and run a smooth event.

Responsibilities will include:

• Assist in drafting, editing and proofreading newsletters, articles and other comms products.

• Help update and manage the EED website and contact databases.

• Contribute to managing EED’s social media presence (LinkedIn, X, Bluesky, Instagram, Facebook).

• Create smart, engaging posts and help shape broader campaign ideas.

• Track analytics and provide reports that help us understand what’s working.

• Support in organising EED events (in Brussels and online), as well as external partner events.

• Assist in processing contracts, invoices and other tasks related to the team’s work.

The internship is planned for a period of twelve months, starting September 2025, and will take place at the EED Secretariat, located in the centre of Brussels, Belgium. The monthly net remuneration is €1,900, in addition to meal vouchers and the reimbursement of a monthly subscription to Brussels public transport.
