[post_audio_speech]

On 17 September, the new Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, Iwona Piorko, met with the Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament, Igor Grosu.

The discussions focused on multiple projects organised and funded by the EU and implemented in Moldova. The Head of the EU Delegation emphasised the decisive role of the Parliament in Moldova’s accession process to the EU and the EU’s continued support to the Republic of Moldova on its path to reform.

The Speaker of the Parliament noted that the authorities continue to prioritise the process of accession to the European Union, the consolidation of the country’s democratic institutions and the agenda of democratic reforms. He also welcomed the disbursement of the first tranche of €270 million from the Growth Plan for Moldova – the largest package of financial assistance offered by the European Union to Moldova since independence.
