EU Code Week 2025: digital literacy, computational thinking and programming
This year, EU Code Week marks its 13th edition and will take place from 11 to 26 October 2025.
EU Code Week is a European Commission initiative designed to promote digital literacy, computational thinking, and programming throughout Europe.
The EU Code Week initiative encourages young people to take up coding and pursue a career in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. From 2013, Code Week has grown into a thriving grassroots movement engaging millions every year, and making coding accessible, inclusive and fun.

Thousands of events will take place across EU countries and beyond, including in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine. The list of events includes workshops, hackathons, unplugged coding sessions and classroom activities. The initiative brings together students, educators, parents, tech enthusiasts and communities to explore digital creativity and innovation.
The launch of EU Code Week 2025 will take place on 13 October 2025 at the European Parliament, hosted by Vice-President Victor Negrescu. Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen will also participate in EU Code Week 2025 and address the community, underlining the importance of coding and digital skills for Europe’s digital future.
The event will bring together policymakers, educators, industry leaders and grassroots community members, and will also be livestreamed on EU Code Week’s Youtube channel.
