EU and Council of Europe: Belarus stays last country in Europe that retains the death penalty

The European Union and the Council of Europe have strongly reaffirmed their unequivocal opposition to the death penalty, in all cases and in all circumstances, and called for its abolition, including in Belarus. A joint statement by the EU High Representative and the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, released on 9 October, European and World Day against the Death Penalty, said that more than two-thirds of all countries have abolished the death penalty in law or in practice. On 24 September, ‘EU4Youth: Youth Engagement and Empowerment’ project helped organise a workshop titled “Youth of Cherkasy Region 2026-2030”. EU-backed ‘Ray of Hope’ brings new solar energy to hospitals in Kyiv region

Two additional solar photovoltaic systems with capacities of 44.9 kW and 102 kW have been installed in two health care facilities in the Kyiv region under the ‘Ray of Hope’ initiative.  The solar panels were delivered under the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, managed by the Energy Community Secretariat in close cooperation with Ukraine’s Health and Energy ministries.
