Celebrating final milestone of EU4Dialogue: strengthening dialogue for lasting cross-regional cooperation
The final conference of the EU-funded Project ‘EU4Dialogue: Supporting Understanding Between Conflict Parties’ took place on 10-13 March, in Chisinau, Moldova, bringing together 130 participants from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Moldova to celebrate the impact of the project, which runs from 2020 to 2025.
The conference hosted for the first time EU4Dialogue participants from all dialogues, including experts on water security and management, green energy transition, climate change adaptation, as well as historians, civil society, youth, and actively engaged individuals on the Women, Peace and Security agendas.

The final conference was meant to encourage informal connections, including with international partners and donors to facilitate sustainability of the established dialogue networks and continuous regular exchange between relevant stakeholders.
Nina Martin, DG ENEST European Commission, said: “Through the EU4Dialogue Programme, we have seen how meaningful collaboration across divides can lead to lasting change. This conference not only celebrates the progress made, but also sets the stage for continued engagement, ensuring that the dialogue and partnerships established here drive sustainable peace and cooperation for years to come.”

Since its inception in 2020, the Project has been guided by a shared vision of creating spaces for dialogue and reducing tensions.
Tanja Tamminen, Team Leader of EU4Dialogue, Component 1, said in her opening remarks: “The success of our Project has been possible with the collective efforts of our partners, stakeholders, and participants. Through a shared commitment and strong transition to local ownership processes, we have built a lasting foundation of dialogue, understanding, and cooperation.”

Throughout its duration, the EU-funded Project EU4Dialogue, Component 1, has achieved significant success in fostering meaningful dialogue and collaboration:
The EU4Dialogue Programme has also ensured alignment with the European Union’s Women, Peace, and Security strategy and upheld the ‘do no harm’ principle in all its activities.
Women’s Platform for Agenda Setting: for the past three years, dozens of women from across the divides have met monthly online, creating a platform for women to actively contribute to peace-building efforts. Two Women’s Conferences in Brussels were organised;
Cross-regional Dialogues: specialists in the fields of green energy, water management, climate change, but also historians, have come together to engage in constructive dialogues across the region;
Youth Peace and Security Agenda and Civil Society Empowerment: through workshops, trainings, and international forums, the Project has empowered young people and civil society groups to play an active role in shaping their communities’ futures.
As the Secretariat of the EU4Dialogue Programme, the team has facilitated internal coordination and organised monthly meetings to ensure that all stakeholders remained engaged and aligned in their efforts.
The EU-funded Project ‘EU4Dialogue: Supporting Understanding Between Conflict Parties’ is the first component of the broader EU4Dialogue Programme. It aims to facilitate dialogue and enhance understanding across divides by conducting studies, organising events, training, and workshops at various levels and in diverse settings for participants from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and the Republic of Moldova. Implemented by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung e.V. in partnership with IDIS Viitorul (Republic of Moldova), IDP Women Association “Consent” (Georgia), Institute for Mediation, Counselling, Development (Germany), and Cowater International (Belgium). The project runs until July 2025.
