Change the world before it changes you: EU NEIGHBOURS east launches major youth campaign
Today, on the international Day of Democracy, EU NEIGHBOURS east launches a youth campaign that will focus on promoting opportunities and challenges for young people in the European Union and its eastern neighbours, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
The slogan of the campaign – “Change the world before it changes you” – will serve as an overarching message to showcase how the EU enables young people to become agents of change, as well as to deal more effectively with the social isolation, economic crisis and war that have recently so heavily impacted society, and youth in particular.
The campaign will run for two months, and focus on opportunities from the EU – participation in democracy and the Year of Youth 2022, and opportunities for personal development and growth offered by EU-funded programmes and initiatives – as well as challenges, with a focus on prevention and support as Europe tackles the growing mental health crisis.
As part of the campaign, today we publish a blog story written by a Young European Ambassador (YEA) from Ukraine, looking at democracy as a core European value and a key catalyst for reform in her home country.
In the coming weeks, the youth campaign will promote youth opportunities and events, as well as discussions around mental health issues, across EU NEIGHBOURS east social media channels, in YEA activities and in partnership with the media and bloggers in Eastern Partnership countries.
Follow EU NEIGHBOURS east social media to take part in the campaign: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.
And don’t forget that if you are aged between 16 and 26, you too can become a Young European Ambassador by applying to join the network before 30 September. Click here to find out more, and change the world before it changes you!
