Disney and Oscar music concert transforms Moldovan fortress into a musical fairy tale
On 1 June, a concert of Disney and Oscar Music, performed by the Moldovan National Youth Orchestra with the support of the EU Confidence Building Measures Programme, transformed the Tighina (Bender) Fortress into a scene of music and Disney magic.
The concert was dedicated to families from both banks on the Nistru River, who gathered at the fortress to enjoy symphonic music. The programme included a selection of songs from Disney films in the first part, and soundtracks from Oscar winning movies in the second.
The concert was the seventh held at the fortress, which was restored in the first phase of the EU Confidence Building Measures Programme. The restoration and subsequent cultural events have significantly increased the tourist potential of the Tighina (Bender) Fortress, ensuring its sustainability
“The most beautiful thing for me was that people from both sides of the Nistru were there together,” said Dorina, who attended the event.
“We as musicians have no nationality and no borders, that’s why our collaboration is so beautiful, and music becomes our communication language,” added Natalia Chirca, a performer from Tiraspol.
The Confidence Building Measures Programme, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP, contributes to strengthening trust between residents on both banks of the Nistru River by involving them in joint development projects.
