EU Delegation to Azerbaijan and Young European Ambassadors celebrate women’s leadership
On 7 March, the Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in Baku, and the Young European Ambassadors (YEAs), organised the ‘Breaking Barriers & Overcoming Challenges’ event celebrating the resilience, leadership, and impact of women in diplomacy, STEM, and the arts.
The event was held in Kashalata Cafe, a socially inclusive space employing individuals with disabilities, and consisted of a panel discussion, bringing together female leaders, including diplomats, industry experts, and artists, sharing their experiences in overcoming challenges and breaking stereotypes.

“The European Union has long been a champion of gender equality and women’s empowerment,” Peter Michalko, the EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan, said in his welcome speech. “We believe that when women have equal access to opportunities, education, and leadership roles, societies become more prosperous, innovative, and resilient.”
The Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) initiative brings together socially engaged youth from the six Eastern Partner countries, the European Union and the United Kingdom to foster dialogue and to raise awareness about the EU and its cooperation with its Eastern partner countries.
