EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos said last night on X that she had spoken with Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili.

They discussed the “worrying situation” in Georgia.

“I praise the brave determination of Georgian people to continue on the path to Europe,” Marta Kos wrote on X. “Your will should be respected. No more business as usual. The EU is on your side.”

Earlier, on 1 December, EU High Representative Kaja Kallas and Marta Kos released a statement saying that the European Union regretted Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s statement on the Georgian Dream’s decision not to pursue the opening of EU accession negotiations and to reject EU financial support until 2028.
