EU-funded report shows Georgia’s growing export potential
UNDP Georgia has published a new research report, funded by the European Union, which looks at the prospects that Georgian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have in European markets.
The report, titled Unlocking Georgia’s Export Potential to the European Union. 2025, examined the export potential of Georgian SMEs to enhance their access to European markets. The report focused on four sectors: beverage manufacturing, packaging, apparel production, and IT services.
The findings of the report show that SMEs dominate the packaging and beverage manufacturing sections and have clear export potential. It also notes the rising interest in the Georgian fashion industry and the rapid growth of IT services. For each sector, the report makes specific recommendations on how to boost export prospects.
The research was carried out by the Policy and Management Consulting Group (PMCG) and the Institute of Politics of the International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University (ISET-PI), funded by the EU and the UNDP, within the framework of the project ‘Inclusive Access to Markets’.
