EU Partnership Mission to Moldova provides secure communication equipment for operational police units
On 14 January, the European Union Partnership Mission to Moldova (EUPM), handed over modern TETRA communications equipment to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova and the General Police Inspectorate to consolidate Moldova’s crisis response capacities.
TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio, formerly known as Trans-European Trunked Radio) is a European standard for a professional mobile radio and two-way transceiver specification. It was specifically designed for use by government agencies, emergency services (police forces, fire departments, ambulance), transport services and the military.
The equipment delivered includes portable, mobile and fixed stations. It will provide secure and efficient communications for operational police units, strengthening their ability to respond quickly in crisis situations and in everyday life.
The EUPM support also included visits from European experts to Chisinau at the end of 2024, who issued a number of recommendations to improve the operational activities of the National Police.
