EU prolongs individual sanctions over Ukraine’s territorial integrity

[post_audio_speech]

On 12 September, the Council of the European Union prolonged the restrictive measures against individuals responsible for undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine for another six months, until 15 March 2026.

The existing sanctions include a travel ban for natural persons, which prevents them from entering or transiting through EU territories, the freezing of assets, and a ban on making funds or other economic resources available to the listed individuals and entities.

The Council also decided not to renew the sanctions against one individual, and to remove one deceased person from the list.

These restrictive measures currently apply to over 2,500 individuals and entities as a response to Russia’s ongoing unjustified and unprovoked military aggression against Ukraine. The goal of the sanctions is to weaken significantly Russia’s economic base, to deprive it of critical technologies and markets, and to curtail considerably its ability to wage war.
