EU4Culture: seven winning cities from EaP countries receive EU funding to implement Cultural Development Strategies

Seven non-capital cities from the Eastern Partnership countries have won the EU4Culture grant competition and received up to €300,000 from the European Union to implement their Cultural Development Strategies.

The chosen cities are Ijevan in Armenia, Lankaran in Azerbaijan,  Zugdidi in Georgia, Cahul in Moldova, and Poltava, Rivne and Vinnytsia in Ukraine. 

At the previous stage of the call, 14 shortlisted cities (up to three cities per country) received €30,000 EU grants each to prepare Cultural Development Strategies. Based on the assessment of the submitted strategies, Ijevan, Lankaran, Zugdidi and Cahul received final funding of up to €300,000 each to implement their strategies.

Considering the current situation in Ukraine, the project has retained all three shortlisted cities, Poltava, Rivne and Vinnytsia, and will distribute the final grant of €300,000 equally between them. The funding will give the cities in Ukraine an opportunity to develop their strategies and implement some activities linked to it. 

In addition to financial support, the project will offer the cities capacity-building programmes tailored to their needs.

EU4Culture is funded by the European Union to support culture and the creative sector, with a special focus on non-capital cities and towns in the Eastern Partnership Countries. The project is implemented by Goethe Institut (lead), Czech Centres, Danish Cultural Institute and Institut Français de Géorgie.
