The ‘EU4Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in Armenian Communities’ project has presented in Gyumri the achievements of the 2023–2024 initiatives in the Shirak region of Armenia.

The project supported the installation of solar power panels and the reduction of heat loss in over 20 kindergartens, community centres and other local structures through roof insulation and the replacement of doors and windows.

The initiatives were carried out through a collaboration between GIZ and Armenian Caritas to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy. The ‘EU4Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in Armenian Communities’ project, is funded by the European Union and the German government and implemented by the German Development Agency (GIZ) as part of the ‘ECOserve’ programme.

“These efforts not only reduce energy consumption but also lower greenhouse gas emissions, contributing positively to climate protection,” GIZ said in a press release.
