EU4Sevan: new decentralised wastewater treatment plant inaugurated in Noratus

[post_audio_speech]

On 22 July, the European Union Delegation to Armenia inaugurated a new decentralised wastewater treatment plant in Noratus, Gegharkunik Marz, calling it “a major step forward in protecting Lake Sevan, Armenia’s largest freshwater resource”

Installed on the premises of Kindergarten No. 2, this eco-friendly facility will treat wastewater to irrigation standards, helping to reduce pollution and improve local sanitation in a practical, sustainable way.

The plant is part of the ‘Environmental Protection of Lake Sevan – EU4Sevan’ project, co-funded by the EU and Germany, and implemented by GIZ and the UNDP. The project aims to enhance environmental protection and water quality in Lake Sevan and to improve the lake ecosystem governance.
