EU4Youth: national forum unites youth councils across Ukraine
On 10-11 October, the ‘EU4Youth: Youth Engagement and Empowerment’ project supported the organisation of the all-Ukrainian forum for representatives of youth councils in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine. The event brought together 200 participants from 22 regions of Ukraine and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
This year’s topic – ‘Responsibility as the Key to the Future’ – united young leaders, who spent two days working, discussing, and searching for answers to how to take responsibility for driving change in their communities and in the country as a whole.
The participants worked in groups to develop proposals for strengthening the institution of youth councils, discussed issues of inclusion and social justice, explored the renewal of the National Council on Youth, and searched for new formats of cooperation between councils of different levels and youth advisors.

One important outcome of the event was the beginning of work on the Manifesto of Responsibility of Youth Councils – a document intended to serve as a moral compass for those shaping participatory youth policy in Ukraine.
The forum for youth councils was organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine together with the Youth Council under the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the Department of Sports and Youth Policy of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration, the Ukrainian Youth Foundation, the Youth Platform NGO, the Ukrainian Youth Councils Association, the Memorandum of Youth Councils, the National Association of Youth Workers with the support of the ‘EU4Youth: Youth Engagement and Empowerment’ project co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by GIZ and in partnership with the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation.
