Freedom Day: EU stands in solidarity with the people of Belarus

“The EU stands in solidarity with the people of Belarus and will continue to support all those who keep working tirelessly towards justice, freedom and democracy in their country,” the European Union Delegation to Belarus said in a statement released today.
The statement was released on the occasion of Freedom Day (Дзень Волі), which Belarusians celebrate on 25 March. Freedom Day commemorates Belarus’ declaration of independence in 1918.
“Over 1,200 political prisoners remain unjustly detained in Belarus. All of them must be freed and perpetrators must be held accountable,” the statement said.
