Georgia: EU Ambassador visits Guria region to meet with local communities

[post_audio_speech]

On 11-12 September, the European Union Ambassador to Georgia, Pawel Herczynski visited the Guria region in Georgia to reaffirm the EU’s strong support for communities across the country.

During his two-day visit, Ambassador Herczynski met with a wide range of local partners benefiting from EU-funded programmes, including the Student Youth Council, civil society representatives, and local entrepreneurs.

“It’s an absolute pleasure to be here in the beautiful Guria region. The projects we are visiting, and the many others like them, are a testament to what Georgia and the EU have achieved together,” said Ambassador Herczynski. “We are not a distant partner, we are here with you, supporting every region, every community, and every citizen on this path towards a more prosperous future within the European family.”

On the first day of his visit, the Ambassador travelled to Ozurgeti, where he officially inaugurated the “Bookshelf – Europe Edition”, an initiative promoting educational and cultural exchange. He also met at Progress House with members of the Student Youth Council and local civil society organisations.

On the second day, Ambassador Herczynski attended the launch of a new EU-funded Wi-Fi hotspot in the village of Tkhinvali. He later met with local journalists and media representatives at Ivlita’s Library, before concluding his visit with a working lunch and discussions with local businesses and representatives of the “Green Guria/CENN” and “Skills4Jobs” projects.
