Georgia: EU support to make three Rustavi kindergartens energy efficient
Three kindergartens in Rustavi, Georgia, have been reconstructed to make the buildings energy efficient and compliant with modern standards. The projects were supported by the European Union, and have halved electricity consumption in all three buildings and reduced carbon emissions.
The rehabilitation of the buildings included covering the walls, roof, floor and basement with thermal insulation tiles, replacing the wooden windows and doors, installation of a new lighting system, and a new heating and hot water supply system, supported by solar panels.
The project was implemented by the Sustainable Development and Policy Centre (SDAP) with the support and funding of the European Union and the Municipality of Rustavi. The initiative is part of a demonstration project under the Covenant of Mayors.
