Head of EU Mission in Armenia: number of border incidents has significantly decreased
The number of border incidents between Armenia and Azerbaijan has significantly decreased since the establishment of the EU Mission in Armenia (EUMA) in February 2023, the Mission’s Head Markus Ritter told German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on 3 April.
Markus Ritter met Frank-Walter Steinmeier during his official visit to Armenia and briefed him about EUMA’s tasks, mandate and situation on the ground.
Ritter provided an overview of the Mission’s activities in Armenia and briefed on the situation along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. He informed the President that Germany has the largest contingent – 23 members – in the Mission.
Both the President and the Head of Mission highlighted the importance of promoting peace and ensuring long-term stability in the South Caucasus.
