Learning Energy Efficiency Network launched in Moldova
On 26 September, the Republic of Moldova officially launched the Learning Energy Efficiency Network (LEEN). The launch event took place in Chisinau, gathering over 30 signatories of the Covenant of Mayors (CoM).
LEEN’s primary focus is on CoM signatories who have developed Action Plans for Energy and Climate and are actively implementing them. The project is a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Energy, GIZ Moldova, the National Centre for Sustainable Energy, and other local partners.
The LEEN initiative will provide member towns and villages with a range of benefits, including energy planning tools, expert advice, and access to professional networks for project development. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to share experiences, collaborate with peers, and access dedicated funding for reducing CO2 emissions.
The Covenant of Mayors (CoM), launched by the European Union in 2008, is the world’s largest movement for local climate and energy actions. As of June 2024, it brings together 3,000+ local and regional authorities across +140 countries voluntarily committed to implementing EU climate and energy objectives.
