Moldova: business development centre inaugurated in Crihana Veche with EU and UNDP support
A modern space for business development and attracting investments was inaugurated on 21 February in Crihana Veche village in Cahul district, the Republic of Moldova.
The space, with an area of over 1400 square meters, already hosts two businesses. The Business Development Centre in Crihana Veche was modernised and renovated with the support of the ‘EU4Moldova: Focal Regions’ programme, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP and UNICEF, with the total cost of renovations worth €600,000 (including local contribution).
The construction works included renovation of the building, repair of the roof, modernisation of the water supply and sewage networks, building of a segment of road connecting to the national route R-34, development of an area for road access and a parking lot.
Currently, the Centre hosts two residents, who have created ten new jobs.
“For me, as the owner of a small local bakery, being a resident of the Business Development Centre in Crihana Veche is a great advantage,” said Otilia Vîzdoagă, entrepreneur. “Here I get the right space to grow my business, lower costs and the chance to collaborate with other entrepreneurs. It’s the perfect place for those who want to grow their business quickly and safely with support right here at home in Moldova.”
The ‘EU4Moldova: Focal regions’ programme (2019-2025) supports intelligent, inclusive and sustainable social-economic development in the regions of Cahul and Ungheni to ensure better standards of living to the citizens. The programme has a total budget of €23 million, is funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
