Moldova: Head of the European Commission’s Service for External Policy Instruments visits Calarasi and Balti
On 3 September, the Director of the European Commission’s Service for External Policy Instruments, Peter M. Wagner, paid a working visit to the Moldovan towns of Călărași and Balti.
Wagner held discussions with civil society organisations, media and local public authorities on the implementation of the RESTART reform, which aims to ensure equal and equitable access to high quality social services for the population.
As an example, Director Wagner held discussions with the Territorial Agency for Social Assistance North, which has recently received three vehicles from the EU. These cars support the work of mobile social assistance teams in the northern region of Moldova. The service aims to improve the quality of life of citizens with severe disabilities by providing social assistance and support in the beneficiaries’ homes.
Director Wagner also met with civil society organisations – beneficiaries of the project ‘Moldova Assist: improving access to quality public services and social cohesion’, which is funded by the European Union and implemented by People in Need Moldova.
