More than 80,000 damaged Ukrainian homes restored with EU support
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the European Union has helped to rebuild more than 80,000 Ukrainian homes, damaged by the war.
This support was provided by the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The EU helped to replace windows, doors and roofs, and rebuilt walls of houses in the regions affected by Russian attacks.
The Mechanism also helped to build modular houses in Khmelnytskyi Oblast for at least 240 employees evacuated from the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP).
The EU Civil Protection Mechanism aims to strengthen cooperation between EU countries and 10 participating states on civil protection to improve prevention, preparedness, and response to disasters. When an emergency hits, any country can request assistance via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
