Netherlands joins Ukraine Energy Support Fund donor community by contributing €65 million
On 25 March, the Ukraine Energy Support Fund announced a contribution of €65 million from the Government of the Netherlands.
The Ukraine Energy Support Fund is a central financial mechanism for energy resilience and reconstruction in Ukraine, administered by the Energy Community Secretariat, co-chaired by the European Commission. Thanks to donations from over 30 donors, the Fund has mobilised €1.15 million helping restore infrastructure for 56 energy companies across 21 Ukrainian regions since 2022 when it was established.
Also on 25 March, Artur Lorkowski, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, visited a DTEK (largest energy private company in Ukraine) power plant severely damaged by Russian attacks. The aim of the visit was to assess the deployment of critical equipment delivered through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund and to evaluate its contribution to the facility’s recovery efforts.
A total of 112 contracts worth €26.1 million have been signed under the Fund to support this site. Of these, 52 contracts have already enabled the procurement and delivery of essential equipment. This support is funded through the EU’s contribution to the Fund, which totals €159 million.
