Ozzy the Hamster is back! Raising awareness on clean energy to avert climate catastrophe
Ozzy the Hamster is back, as EU4Energy, in collaboration with EU NEIGHBOURS east, today launch a new awareness-raising campaign for children, with Ozzy starring in a new set of adventures to save the planet from climate meltdown.
The latest campaign is dedicated to renewable energy, and will run from 5 to 30 June 2023. It builds on Ozzy’s first set of adventures earlier this year in the comic book Lightbulb that carried a message on energy saving.
The second series of the comic book released today is entitled Glass Globe and focuses on increasing children’s understanding of renewable energy sources and the importance of using clean energy for our planet.
The comic provides simple information about renewable energy sources such as hydro power, wind, and solar energy, and explains how natural elements can be converted into energy.
In Glass Globe, Ozzy the Hamster helps his friends to predict the bleak future faced by their small town if they fail to change their energy patterns, and helps them to reverse the upcoming catastrophe by exploring alternative green energy solutions. The heroes of the book manage to change their fate by spreading knowledge and helping the population to change their way of using energy.
To complement the message featured in the comic book, EU NEIGHBOURS east is launching a social media campaign featuring Ozzy the Hamster, which will run at the same time as EU Green Week and will engage school children via different social media platforms and through school activities.
The comic book has been developed in the framework of the ‘EU4Energy Programme Phase II –Promoting the Clean Energy Transition in the Eastern Partnership Countries’, which aims to support the region’s transition to clean energy and the liberalisation of its energy markets.
