Recovery digest: stay tuned on recovery and reconstruction progress in Ukraine
EU NEIGHBOURS East, in cooperation with ICTV Ukraine and Recovery Window Ukraine, has launched a TV digest dedicated to recovery and reconstruction initiatives in Ukraine. This initiative highlights efforts supported by the EU and its Member States, showcasing tangible progress on the ground.
The EU remains Ukraine’s largest supporter, playing a crucial role in recovery, reconstruction, and reform efforts, including those necessary for Ukraine’s EU membership path. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the EU has provided €134 billion in humanitarian, financial, economic, and military aid to Ukraine.
The first episode of the digest focuses on key recovery projects, including the modernisation of heating systems for residents in Kryvyi Rih and Kharkiv, implemented through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. It also covers the visit of the EIB Director to Kyiv to establish a data centre for the 112 emergency service. Another key topic is a report on demining Ukraine, featuring the handover of specialised equipment to the State Emergency Service, training of demining dogs, and demining operations supported by EU funding.
In addition to EU efforts, direct aid from Member States has been crucial. Sweden contributed €45 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, financing gas turbines for electricity and heating, Italy contributed €13 million in December, while Poland provided over €3 million to the Fund. Finland delivered chemical detectors and personal protective equipment to Ukraine, France donated generators to Bucha, Kyiv region, ensuring a stable energy supply and Germany helped restore housing in the Mykolaiv region.
The Recovery Digest will be released biweekly. To stay updated, subscribe to the EU NEIGHBOURS EAST YouTube channel.
