Ukraine: EU4Youth organises workshop for the youth of Cherkasy region
On 24 September, ‘EU4Youth: Youth Engagement and Empowerment’ project helped organise a workshop titled “Youth of Cherkasy Region 2026-2030”. The event gathered young activists, representatives of youth civil society organisations, and local authorities to discuss the youth policy in the region and work on the development of the new Regional Programme “Youth of Cherkasy Region 2026-2030.”
The main part of the workshop was practical group work involving both young people and local officials. Participants identified key youth policy issues and their consequences and then explored possible solutions. Later, in the format of a World Café, they jointly developed ideas and recommendations for the new regional youth development program. The event concluded with a plenary session to summarise the outcomes of the discussions.
The workshop produced a package of proposals and recommendations for the future Programme, strengthened cooperation between young people and authorities, and encouraged greater involvement of youth in decision-making processes. The event became an important step towards ensuring that the regional youth policy for 2026-2030 reflects the voices and priorities of the young generation in the Cherkasy region.
The event was organised by the Department for Family, Youth and Sports of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration with the support of the ‘EU4Youth: Youth Engagement and Empowerment’ project. The project is co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ.
