Ukraine: opinion poll shows overwhelming awareness of EU support
Eighty-six per cent of Ukrainians say their country has good relations with the European Union, with 96% aware of EU support provided since the beginning of the war, according to the 2024 annual survey of opinion in Ukraine.
The survey was conducted in March 2024 with computer-assisted telephone interviews with a representative sample of 1,000 people across the country. The opinion polls have been carried out annually by the EUNEIGHBOURS east Programme in Ukraine and the five other countries of the Eastern Partnership since 2016.
The latest poll found an overwhelming majority were aware of EU support for refugees and IDPs (96%), EU humanitarian aid (96%), financial support (94%), military support (93%), support for future reconstruction (85%), and support to Ukraine’s integration process with the EU (81%). Almost three-quarters (73%) felt the support was effective.
Nearly all citizens have heard that Ukraine has been granted EU candidate status (95%).
More than half (52%) of Ukrainians have a positive image of the EU.
The EU remains the most trusted international institution (by 63% of respondents), ahead of NATO (54%) and the United Nations (24%).
An overwhelming 89% of those asked agreed that disinformation was a threat to national security, and 93% believed the EU should offer more support in tackling it.
