Ensuring Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men in Ukrainian Society. Results of a Survey
This analytical report presents the findings of a nationwide telephone survey conducted from February 27 to March 15, 2024, by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) in collaboration with the National Democratic Institute (NDI), the Office of the Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, and the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy, with support from Sweden. The study aimed to assess public perceptions of gender equality in Ukraine, exploring associations with concepts like equality, gender, and feminism, and evaluating the perceived importance of gender equality among citizens.
The survey also examined public opinions on women’s involvement in various societal roles during wartime, including volunteering, defence, and political activities, as well as attitudes toward men’s participation in child-rearing. Additionally, it investigated perceptions of workplace gender equality, encompassing treatment, pay equity, and access to leadership positions. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers and organizations working to promote gender equality and inform strategies to address existing challenges in Ukrainian society.
