Feminist Movement of Ukraine in the Mirror: Results of the 2024 Self-Assessment
This report presents the findings of the 2024 self-assessment of the feminist movement in Ukraine, conducted between February 21 and March 15, 2024. Utilizing the Movement Capacity Assessment Tool (MCAT) developed by the Global Women’s Fund, the assessment gathered 206 responses from 171 organizations and 28 individual activists. Participants’ experience levels varied, with 46% having up to 5 years, 25% between 6-10 years, and 30% over 10 years in the movement. The survey revealed that 40% of respondents perceive the movement as having reached maturity, a significant progression from earlier stages of development. Key areas of focus for participating organizations include Women, Peace, and Security (31%), women’s leadership and decision-making participation (22%), and combating gender-based violence (17%). The report also highlights prevalent roles within the movement, such as raising public awareness (56%), service provision (28%), leadership development (28%), and advocacy (26%). These insights offer a comprehensive understanding of the current state, strengths, and challenges of the feminist movement in Ukraine, informing strategic planning and future initiatives.
