Violence against Women Survey in Georgia (2022)

This nationwide survey, jointly conducted by UN Women and the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), builds on the 2017 baseline and expands its scope to include various forms of intimate partner violence, non-partner violence, sexual harassment, stalking, and social norms surrounding gender-based violence. The 2022 study involved 3,300 women and 1,104 men and found that 50.1% of women aged 15–69 have experienced at least one form of violence in their lifetime. Vulnerability is particularly high among women with lower education levels, early marriages, or those living in rural areas. The data serve to inform evidence-based policy and programming aligned with SDG 5.2 and Article 11 of the Istanbul Convention, fulfilling international obligations. The study was conducted under the EU-funded project ‘Ending Violence against Women and Girls in Georgia’ and UN Women’s regional initiative ‘Women Count’.
