Women in War: motivations to stay and reasons to leave

This analytical report examines the factors influencing Ukrainian women’s decisions to remain in Ukraine or seek refuge abroad during the ongoing conflict. Utilizing data collected through surveys and discrete choice experiments, the study provides a comprehensive demographic profile of respondents, including their employment status, financial situations, family dynamics, and experiences related to the war. It delves into the motivations behind their choices, highlighting key reasons for staying, such as familial ties, patriotic sentiments, and economic considerations.

Conversely, the report also explores the intentions and circumstances prompting some women to contemplate or pursue relocation abroad, identifying factors like safety concerns, economic opportunities, and the well-being of their children. By analysing these diverse motivations and challenges, the study offers valuable insights for policymakers and humanitarian organizations aiming to support women’s needs and decision-making processes during times of conflict.
