EU4Youth IV in Georgia: Helping Hand announces call for participants for ‘Empowering Young Leaders for Climate Change’ initiative
As part of the EU4Youth: Youth Engagement and Empowerment initiative, small grants have been awarded to youth civil society organisations (CSOs). One of the grantees in Georgia, the organisation Helping Hand, invites young people to join their project ‘Empowering Young Leaders for Climate Change’.
This initiative aims to strengthen young people’s capacity to address climate change by building their skills in mitigation and adaptation. The project empowers youth (aged 16-24) to actively participate in decision-making processes within their schools and communities, promoting their rights and responsibilities in tackling climate risks.
Young people aged 16-24 from the following municipalities are eligible to apply: Dusheti, Kaspi, Kareli, and Marneuli.
The initiative consists of two key stages:
1) Training Peer Educators: young people selected through a competitive process will receive comprehensive training on climate change, environmental issues, and volunteering.
2) Knowledge Sharing and Community Action: trained youth will share their knowledge and experiences with peers through educational meetings. Peer educators will also design and implement small-scale projects in their schools and communities.
The project will run from March to May 2025.
The applications are accepted online until 20 February.
‘Helping Hand’ is a beneficiary of the grant programme under the ‘EU4Youth: Youth Engagement and Empowerment’ project, co-financed by the European Union and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
