Strong woman, strong society: EU Delegation to Azerbaijan to hold free screening of Latvian cinema in Baku

The European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan invites everyone to a screening of the Latvian feature film Maria’s Silence

The event will be held on 11 April, 18:30, at the Park Cinema (Flame Towers), Baku.

The screening is organised as part of the European Union’s ‘Strong Woman, Strong Society’ campaign.

Based on the true story of renowned Latvian actress Maria Leiko, the film portrays her inner conflict between the lies of Stalin’s regime and her deep love for her grandchild.

“Maria strives to remain true to her faith in art and human dignity. This powerful drama reveals the profound and painful impact of avoiding confrontation with authority, both on a personal and creative level,” says a Facebook post by the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan.

Entrance is free.
