Voter education, local public awareness and community engagement grants for CSOs and media in Armenia

ERIM (Equal Rights and Independent Media), an international NGO based in France, invites independent media actors and civil society organisations in Armenia to apply for grants aimed at enhancing the capacity of civic actors in Armenia to promote free and fair elections.

The call is launched as part of a regional project, ‘ProElect – Promote accountability in Electoral processes in EaP through increased participation and capacity of civic actors’, run by the Transatlantic Foundation in partnership with ERIM, and funded by the European Union. The project aims to ensure that civil society actors in the Eastern Neighborhood are engaged, capable and knowledgeable in monitoring elections and promoting democratic accountability mechanisms.

Applicants may propose initiatives to educate citizens, especially youth and marginalised groups, about the importance of election observation, the elections themselves and the electoral process (registration process, voting methods, election dates, polling stations, etc.). Projects can also provide impartial information on candidates and monitor campaign finance and the misuse of public resources in elections, and develop and deliver civic education programmes on political ideologies, governance, and the role of elections in a democratic society.

Project grants for voter education and community engagement may go up to €9,000. An additional budget (up to €7,000) will be available for capacity development.

The call is open to independent media actors and civil society organisations active in the field of civic engagement, community level support and civic education, that are working to ensure free and credible elections, promote political participation, and fight against hate speech and disinformation within the upcoming elections in Armenia.

An info session is scheduled for September 4 at 15:00 local time. To register, please fill in the form here

The deadline for applications is 21 September.
