Support for the small and medium-sized enterprises sector in the Republic of Moldova

Project Description
The project aims at providing an amortised loan by Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) to the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Moldova intended for the Moldovan public institution Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA) via the Fund for Entrepreneurship and Economic Growth (FACEM). BGK will provide the loan in the amount of EUR 5 million in order to exclusively support credit action undertaken by the Moldovan commercial banks for the benefit of the Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises’s (MSMEs) sector including these from rural areas in the Republic of Moldova. Additional technical assistance (TA) component implemented by the Solidarity Fund PL Representative Office in Moldova will be an integral part of the project.
Areas of support focus particularly on investments for private sector enterprises especially in underserved market segments such as energy efficiency, energy transition and climate change adaptation measures for beneficiaries at different development stages. Special emphasis is given to financing in rural areas and to promote women’s entrepreneurship.
Specific Objective
Main objectives of the Project focus on supporting credit action to Moldovan micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in order to boost entrepreneurship development. Activities particularly contribute towards SDG No 8 “decent jobs and economic growth”.

4. Increased, improved and inclusive access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy
5. Strengthen capacities of sector institutions and private operators to enable / undertake / manage renewable energy and energy efficiency investments or projects.
Expected Results
1. 500 FTE jobs supported/sustained.
2. 600 companies will receive financial literacy trainings, from which 300 will attempt to apply for the loan to the local bank.
3. 120 MSMEs should be provided with access to loans to support their green investment plans.
